Home Parents What is PFA?
Dear Round Meadow Families:
On behalf of the Parent-Faculty Association (PFA), we welcome you to Round Meadow. We know that this school year will be an enriching and successful one for all our Round Meadow pupils. Our school's academic curriculum, in conjunction with additional educational programs supported by the PFA, will allow us to maintain the
high quality of education that our children deserve.
We encourage you to get involved in the Round Meadow PFA. With your support and dedication, our children will continue to achieve academic excellence, contribute to the welfare of others, and thrive in a caring environment.
This school handbook contains information you will find useful throughout the year. Most of your questions about Round Meadow and its policies should be answered here. However, if you should have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us or the school office.

Meetings of the Round Meadow PFA are held regularly. Membership is open to all parents or guardians of Round Meadow pupils. Each family is entitled to one vote.
Objectives
- Furthering the educational welfare of pupils and maintaining a line of communication between home and school.
- Assisting the faculty in pupil activities.
- Organizing and supporting fund-raising efforts, to provide educational programs, materials, and beneficial services for Round Meadow.
Round Meadow PFA plays a crucial role in providing support services and programs for Round Meadow. PFA funds the school's music, art, computer, and physical education specialists and has made major financial commitments to acquisition of computers and software for labs and classrooms, extra library clerk time, assemblies, earthquake supplies in each classroom, and teachers' classroom supplies. Additionally, PFA provides afterschool Enrichment classes; coordinates activities of Room Parents and other volunteers; assists with Student Council's welfare and community-service projects; manages field-trip funds; selects and sells school-spirit apparel and accessories; may operate a Student Store; and handles all the logistics of a wide variety of special activities and events.
PFA's voluntarism and fund-raising assure Round Meadow pupils unique and enriching educational experiences not found in most public schools today. These experiences would not be possible without the determination and united effort of Round Meadow parents and staff. Fundraisers include the Fall Campaign, Gift Wrap, Book Fairs, Fitness Challenge, Carnival, and Silent Auction.
Other major PFA undertakings include annual Mother-Son Events and Father-Daughter Dances, production of school pictures and yearbooks, fifth grade's year-end party, continuing community outreach, traffic coordination, a monthly newsletter, a family directory, and this Handbook.
Enrichment
PFA offers afterschool Enrichment classes for grades 1-5 in drama, science,
arts/crafts, magic, sports, dance, second languages, and other areas in fall,
winter, and spring sessions of 8 to 12 weeks each. In addition, a dramatic/musical production is rehearsed and then performed by pupils each semester. [ The YMCA's afterschool-care program and kindergarten enrichment activities are entirely separate. ]
Room Parents
Room Parents coordinate parental participation in classroom activities, including class parties. Room Parents play a significant role in Carnival and Silent Auction, field trips, telephone tree, and teacher appreciations.
